81 Countries Vie for Foreign-Language Oscar

The Academy  of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced that 81 countries have submitted films for consideration in the foreign-language film category for the 88th Academy Awards.  Paraguay is a first-time entrant.

The 88th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 14. The Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 28, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
