Production is now under way on “Maya the Bee 2 – The Honey Games,” a sequel to hit Australian animation “Maya the Bee – First Flight.”
Another heart-warming story about a bee and her friends from the meadow, the sequel sees Maya venture beyond the hive and meet new friends and opponents who will offer a challenge for Maya. The underlying material is based on German children’s novel, which was first published in 1912, and has gone into multiple translations.
The film is produced by Studio 100 Media in co-production with Australian shingle Studio B Animation. It is also being made in association with Flying Bark Prods., which was founded by the late animation legend Yoram Gross, who died in September shortly after the successful release of his “Blinky Bill” movie.
Studio 100 Media is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Belgian firm Studio 100 Group. It focuses on production and distribution of high-quality and non-violent children’s entertainment. Studio 100 Film is its sales arm, launched in 2012. Its other properties include “Heidi” and “Vic the Viking.”
