The Hong Kong government has renewed and relaunched two funds to support local filmmaking.
The First Feature Film Initiative, which had been run as a pilot program, is now to be made permanent.
Grants available to higher education students and to young professionals have been expanded to HK$3.25 million (US$420,000) and HK$5.5 million (US$710,000), respectively.
The Film Development Fund will also roll out a brand new Film Production Grant Scheme to subsidize small-budget film productions with production budgets under H$10 million (US$1.29 million). Grants are capped at 20 or HK$2 million (US$258,000) per film.
Details of the two programs were announced by the head of CreateHK, Jerry Liu, during the Hong Kong FilMart convention.
