Busan: Edko Films Snags ‘Cover’ Rights

Hong Kong’s Edko Films has picked up Hong Kong and Macau rights to “Front Cover,” the drama by Ray Yeung.  The deal closed shortly before the Asian Film Market with rights represented by Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based Fortissimo Films. The movie was the opening film of last month’s Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and next plays at the Hawaii Intl. Film Festival. North American rights were previously sold to Strand Releasing.

“Ray is our local hero in LGBT cinema. He is one of the founders of the HKLGFF and also very much a pioneer in Hong Kong LGBT cinema. We are proud to work with him and to introduce and bring his second film back to his home,” said Edko Films’ Esther Yeung.

The film follows the story of a gay Asian American fashion stylist who detests and rejects his Asian heritage, but is forced to reassess his style and cultural background when he is obliged to work with a visiting Chinese celebrity.

Front Cover” is produced by NewVoice Production, along with producer, Kaer Vanice (“Ten Stories Tall”) and co-producers Chowee Leow (“The Blue Mansion,” “Cut Sleeve Boys”) and Stan Guingon (“Paper Wrap Fire”).
