“The Daughter,” the Australian-made drama that is a retelling of Ibsen’’s “The Wild Duck,” has been picked up for the U.K. by distributor Metrodome. The film is the feture directing debut of well-established theater director Simon Stone, and stars a panoply of Australian and international stars, including Geoffrey Rush, Sam Neill, Ewen Leslie, Paul Schneider, Anna Torv, Miranda Otto and newcomer Odessa Young.
It premiered at the Sydney festival in June and had a successful outing in Toronto last month. It will next play at the London festival. The sale was negotiated by Canada’s Mongrel Media. The film will be released by Roadshow in Australia in March 2016.
