El Segundo, along with Playa Vista, continues to heat up as a magnet for tech, media and entertainment companies, especially those migrating from the more expensive Santa Monica/Venice nexus to the north. Google, Facebook, YouTube and Yahoo have already set up shop in this Silicon Beach stronghold. And now Elevon, a state-of-the-art, 210,000-square-foot office development within Campus El Segundo, is riding the tech boom in the area by attracting such companies as digital production studio Big Block Media, as well as PK4 and others.
Big Block gained about 3,000 square feet (to about 14,400) from its former Santa Monica space, capitalizing on tax incentives, price points and proximity to LAX. “We expect to produce 12 more original feature films from the Elevon space next year,” states Scott Benson, Big Block founder/CEO.
The new 15-building Elevon compound — with its modern steel, glass and wood facades designed by Ehrlich Architects — just opened over the summer, and is already 76% sold. Elevon also boasts 13,500 square feet of restaurants and retail. Office spaces range from 2,000 square feet to 28,000 square feet.
In a related development, the Los Angeles Lakers just closed escrow on five-acres at Campus El Segundo, where the team will build its new training facility.
