Screenwriter Derek Connolly Flips Home in Hollywood Hills (EXCLUSIVE)

Newly minted screenwriting dynamo Derek Connolly appears to have caught a classic case of the Real Estate Fickle. The action-adventure specialist — he penned the mega-blockbuster “Jurassic World,” which has hauled in more than $1.6 billion in worldwide box office — has flipped a striking, 1980s contemporary in the Hollywood Hills, up for sale at just under $2.3 million, even though he bought it only just over a year ago, per property records, for $2.15 million.

Set high and privately above the street, the extensively renovated, open-plan pad measures in at slightly more than 2,800 square feet, divided between a multitude of levels linked by a positively Escher-esque series of cable-railed staircases. It’s a handful of steps up from the foyer to a living room that features an operatically high and angled wall of windows and glass sliders that open to a street-side terrace with sweeping city lights view; and it’s a couple steps down to the combination family room and dining area that offers a raised hearth fireplace and direct access to a spacious deck with sunken hot tub and iconic Tinseltown view that encompasses both the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign. The adjoining, open kitchen won’t be mistaken for huge, but is certainly snazzy with high-gloss white cabinets and a dramatic, frameless glass bay window. Two guest bedrooms, one with small balcony, share a hall bathroom, while the expansive master suite offers a small loft, dressing area and walk-in closet, as well as sun-flooded bathroom with double-sink vanity, soaking tub, and glass-enclosed shower.

The property is represented by Victoria Massengale and Michael Maguire at Keller Williams in Beverly Hills.

  1. Sandpiper says:

It is atrocious to see polyester pillows strewn about on Mies van der Rohe’s legendary Barcelona Chairs. Seriously.

  2. Desert Donna says:

He is cute but it was not difficult to “penn” a Jurasic Park script. Like catching fish in a barrel?

  3. What’s happened to the classic format? Since the Diane Keaton post, none of them have had the “SELLER: xxxx LOCATION: xxxxx PRICE: $xxx SIZE: xxxx YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: xxxx” intro that sums it all up.
