OWNERS: Ramona and Mario Singer
LOCATION: Southampton, NY
PRICE: $320,000 (Memorial Day to Labor Day)
SIZE: (approx.) 7,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: “Real Housewives of New York City” original cast member Ramona Singer, currently caught up in a salacious and public split from her adulterous husband, Mario Singer, has the erstwhile couple’s Hampton’s estate up for lease for the upcoming summer season — that would be Memorial Day to Labor Day — with a coffer-filling asking price $320,000. (The property, hidden behind high hedges and privately ringed by mature trees and shrubbery, is also available for shorter amounts of time including by the week at $55,000.)
Miz Singer — a strident and famously unfiltered Pinot Grigio swilling entrepreneur who, among other money-making endeavors, hawks religious jewelry, skin care products and affordable wine — purchased the 1.48-acre, pond front property in December 1995 for $875,000; Current listing details show the approximately 7,000-square-foot, faux-quoined villa of indeterminate architectural style has half a dozen bedrooms and as many bathrooms. (It was here in this house, according to a variety of tabloid reports, where Ramona caught Mario in flagrante delicto with a much younger lover last year.)
A double height foyer with stone tile flooring, curved floating staircase — and, in listing photos, at least, a baby grand piano — opens to an also double height formal living room with (gas) fireplace, honey blond wood floors and French doors that open to a loggia but backyard and pond overlook. A formal dining room comfortably accommodates a dozen diners, according to listing details, and the well-equipped if too creatively tiled center island kitchen opens to an informal dining space and sky-lit family room with second (gas) fireplace. A finished basement area includes a games room with pool table and a media lounge with a titanic, 70” television. Most (if not all) of the guest/family bedrooms have direct access to a private en suite while the second floor master suite has direct access to a semi-private balcony and ceramic white tiled master bathroom with vaulted, sky-lit ceiling; twin sinks and vanities; a jetted tub and separate stall shower.
The entirely landscaped property includes a good-size, pea gravel motor court and, around the side of the house, a two-car attached garage; broad lawns and flowering gardens; a heated 20’ x 40’ gunite swimming pool; a Har-Tru tennis court; a regulation Bocci court.
This is not, by a long shot, the first time the divorcing duo have had their Hamptons house up for lease. Indeed it’s been on an off the rental market including (but not limited to) in 2009 when it was set out at $295,000 for the summer season and in 2012 when it was listed at a variety of prices including a quarter million clams for July and August.
Back in the Big Apple the former couple continue to own an almost 2,500-square-foot condo with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms in a nondescript full-service high-rise on the Upper East Side that was purchased in 1997 for $1.42 million and briefly listed on the open market in 2007 at $4.495 million.
