Twitter-owned video sharing service Vine is now available on the Apple Watch: Vine’s new Apple Watch app displays Vine’s from a user’s favorite Viners, as well as featured content curated by the Vine team on the watch display.
Vine users are also able to like and reshare content, as well as access their Vine statistics directly from their wrist. The Vine for Apple Watch app is now available for anyone who has installed the latest version of the Vine app on their iPhone, and that app comes with a few other new features as well.
Most notably, Vine users can now browse through new and related vines by swiping left on any loop. The clips served up this way are based on Vine’s recommendation engine, which means they are not necessarily from Viners that users are already following. Vine first introduced content recommendations in October on Android.
Vine has become a key asset as Twitter is looking to further monetize video. Vine is now attracting 100 million users a month, who watch more than 1 billion loops a day. However, Twitter still hasn’t added any advertising to Vine, and instead focused on growing the platform.
