Jack Dorsey may have to quit his job — if he wants to become permanent CEO at Twitter, that is: The company has clarified that it sees the CEO position as a full-time commitment, according to Bloomberg.
That’s a clear stab at Dorsey, who will step in as Twitter’s interim CEO when outgoing chief executive Dick Costolo is leaving the post at the end of the month. Dorsey is currently also the CEO of payment processing company Square, and plans to keep that job, at least for the time being.
Twitter officially began the search for a new CEO when Costolo announced its resignation earlier this month. The company is looking at internal as well as external candidates. Both Twitter CFO Anthony Noto and president Adam Bain are seen as likely candidates, but Dorsey is certainly a possibility as well — if he quits his Square job, that is.
