Ahead of the full Dec. 11 premiere, Amazon will debut the first episode of season two Monday night, exclusively for Prime members in the U.S.
Previously, Soloway described the new episodes as a time of transition for the entire family, surrounding Jeffrey Tambor’s transgender Maura — the role that won him an Emmy and Golden Globe.
“Season two is wild! Now that the bubble wrap is off, it’s time for the whole family to transition,” Soloway said. “Our Pfeffermans realize they must give up their disguises, unspoken arrangements and secrets. By exploring their shared history and legacy, they come to understand that you can’t go forward without knowing where you come from. Ultimately, everyone will open their hearts, advertise their desires, and test those notoriously wobbly boundaries as each Pfefferman tries their hardest to come out — as themselves.”
Soloway exec produces “Transparent,” which has already been renewed for season three, with Andrea Sperling. Tambor stars with Judith Light, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass and Gaby Hoffmann. Guest stars for season two include Anjelica Huston, Cherry Jones, Kathryn Hahn, Rob Huebel, Carrie Brownstein, Alexandra Billings, Tig Notaro, Alex MacNicoll, Trace Lysette, Melora Hardin, Michaela Watkins, Emily Robinson and Bradley Whitford.
The full second season debuts Dec. 11 in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Austria.
