The newest trailer offers new gameplay footage, as well as showing the newly announced playable heroes. It was revealed earlier this week that Princess Leia and the Emperor would be playable in the game, joining the already existing list of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo and Boba Fett.
The trailer showcases these characters fighting across both popular planets (Endor, Hoth, Tatooine) and planets new to the series (Sullust). There are also many references in the trailer to moments from the films that fans will pick up on. While fighting on Tatooine, Boba Fett flies over the Sarlacc Pit, where he met his end in “Return of the Jedi,” and mutters, “That won’t happen again.” A confrontation between Darth Vader and Han Solo later in the trailer is reminiscent of their encounter on Cloud City in “The Empire Strikes Back.”
Big buzz has been building for the new game, with a beta that was open from Oct. 8-12 garnering more than 9 million players. After many failed attempts to create a third installment in the “Battlefront” series, it has been ten years since “Star Wars Battlefront II”; EA and DICE seem to have a hit worthy of the “Star Wars” name on their hands.”Star Wars Battlefront” drops Nov. 17.
