Seeso, NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises’ new ad-free comedy streaming channel, has announced a month-long web-only free beta.

The beta period begins Dec. 3 and will allow participants to sample the mix of new, original shows on the channel as well as curated films and classic stand-up.

“It’s like the soft-opening of a restaurant,” said Evan Shapiro, EVP of NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises, in a statement. “Everything is free, while you try out Seeso, sample our great classic comedy and get a taste of our exclusive original series. We think our stuff can help you laugh better, and we want you to Seeso for yourself. But, just like the soft-opening of any new neighborhood club, space is limited and we might ask for your patience while we work out our service.”

The original series included in the beta are “Before the Morning After,” a late-night comedy show where comedians get drunk in a diner at 2 a.m.; “Dave & Ethan: Lovemakers,” sketch and game show that makes love connections between contestants from the streets of NYC; “Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane,” a musical comedy about a human and puppet living together; “The Cyanide & Happiness Show,” an animated series based on the popular web comic; and “The UCB Show,” a weekly variety showcase for best sketch, characters and stand-up.

The beta will also feature “The Guest List: Live from The Barrel House,” a show held in a former speakeasy that will air live during the beta.

The Seeso beta begins Dec. 3 and launches in full in January.
