Netflix has released a second trailer for “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” revealing flashes of more action — and psychological trauma — in store for the New York City detective haunted by her street-hero past.
“Jessica Jones, you tossed a man twice your size across the bar with one hand,” Luke Cage, her ally and lover, says in the new trailer. Responds Jones: “Adrenaline kicked in.” The heroine also is tormented by mind-controlling nemesis Kilgrave, who knows about her past deeds and special powers.
Krysten Ritter, who plays the hard-drinking, lone-wolf title character, is joined by David Tennant (Kilgrave), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), along with Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Wil Traval.
The series is executive produced by series showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (“Twilight,” “Dexter”) and Liz Friedman (“Elementary”), along with Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”).
“Marvel’s Jessica Jones” is the second of four live-action adventure series under Netflix’s pact with Disney and Marvel Entertainment. The first, “Marvel’s Daredevil,” is now streaming season one and the show has been renewed for a second run; the other installments will follow Luke Cage and Iron Fist, culminating with all four characters in miniseries “Marvel’s The Defenders.”
To promote its original series, Netflix has released teasers and images months ahead the shows’ premieres, made all the more urgent because of its binge-friendly release strategy. The new “Jessica Jones” trailer is available on the show’s YouTube and Facebook pages and Twitter account.
