LONDON — Netflix has struck a global deal with FremantleMedia Intl. on supernatural thriller “The Returned,” which is executive produced by Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “Bates Motel”) and Raelle Tucker (“True Blood”).
The series, which premieres in the U.S. on A&E on March 9, will launch exclusively on Netflix in all territories outside of the U.S. and Canada on March 10. Episodes will be available weekly to international subscribers to stream within 24 hours of the U.S. broadcast. The series will be available on Netflix in the U.S. and Canada next year.
The drama, which is based on the French series created by Fabrice Gobert, follows the residents of a small mountain town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead, suddenly reappear.
The show stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” “Smashed”), Mark Pellegrino (“Lost”), Jeremy Sisto (“Suburgatory,” “Six Feet Under”), India Ennenga (“Treme”) and Sandrine Holt (“House of Cards”).
It is produced by FremantleMedia North America in association with Haut et Court TV SAS, the producer of the French series. Executive producers are Cuse for Carlton Cuse Prods., Tucker for Angry Annie Prods. and Thom Beers, Craig Cegielski and Stefanie Berk for FremantleMedia North America.
