Vice Media Hires Richard Beckman, Former Conde Nast Exec, as Head of Ad Sales

Richard Beckman, a veteran publishing-industry exec who spent more than two decades at Condé Nast, is joining Vice Media as chief revenue officer where he’ll oversee advertising sales.

Most recently, he served as CEO of Three Lions Entertainment, a producer of branded content (which closed its doors after CBS sued the company for breach of contract over “Fashion Rocks” fundraising show). From January 2010 to July 2012, he was CEO of Prometheus Global Media, whose titles include the Hollywood Reporter and Billboard.

He also previously was CEO of Fairchild Fashion Media, which Penske Media Corp. (Variety‘s parent company) acquired from Condé Nast last year. Prior to Fairchild, he was president of the Conde Nast Media Group.

Vice has been staffing up senior executive ranks recently, as the company expands its business operations — including via an expansion of its deal with HBO for a daily news show, and its plans to launch a cable TV network in partnership with investor A+E Networks. Last fall, the company hired Alyssa Mastromonaco, former assistant to President Obama and White House deputy chief of staff, to run its sprawling global operations.

Beckman, earlier in his career at Condé Nast, was publisher of Vogue, GQ and Conde Nast Traveler. His move to Vice was reported earlier by THR.
