Zimmerman most recently was senior VP of scripted programming for Warner Bros.’ Warner Horizon Television. She’s tasked with development and production of original scripted series as AwesomenessTV expands production for digital, TV and over-the-top subscription VOD services. Shauna Phelan will continue in her role overseeing AwesomenessTV’s scripted and unscripted series.
Prior to joining Warner Horizon TV in 2006, Zimmerman worked with Brian Robbins, founder and CEO of AwesomenessTV, at Tollin/Robbins Prods. where she was instrumental in the development of “Smallville,” “One Tree Hill” and “What I Like About You.”
“I’m thrilled to reunite with Shelley,” Robbins said in announcing her hire. “With so many new distribution platforms creating opportunities for us, she will expand our studio slate of original series.”
At Warner Horizon, Zimmerman expanded the studio’s roster of scripted series to include pop-culture phenomenon “Pretty Little Liars” on ABC Family, Netflix’s “Longmire,” TNT’s “Dallas” and TNT’s “Rizzoli & Isles.” Prior to Tollin/Robbins, Zimmerman was a TV literary agent at Endeavor. She began her career at Goldman Sachs in New York.
“After watching AwesomenessTV’s amazing growth these last few years as an outsider, I’m really excited about joining the team and working with Brian once again,” said Zimmerman.
AwesomenessTV’s original series for TV and OTT platforms include sketch series “AwesomenessTV” that aired on Nickelodeon and “Richie Rich” and “Project MC²” for Netflix. The company also entered into an original development and production agreement with DHX Media for content to air on Family Channel in Canada.
