Drew Welborn has joined UTA as a comedy touring agent.
He will be based in UTA’s New York office, where he will represent established and emerging comedy talent for touring as well as in film, television, digital media and other areas.
Welborn joins UTA from WME in New York, where he was an agent in the personal appearances department focusing on comedy and digital talent. He began his career in the William Morris Agency mailroom in Los Angeles prior to the merger that formed WME Entertainment.
At WME, Welborn’s clients included Pete Holmes, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, Grace Helbig, Cristela Alonzo, Jermaine Fowler, Hari Konbabolu, Mark Normand, Jo Firestone, Alex Edelman, Max Silvestri, Megan Gailey, Tommy Johnagin and Jak Knight. It is unknown at this time who will be joining Welborn at UTA.
“Drew knows comedy, and he will be a great asset as we grow our comedy practice. We’re thrilled he’s joining us,” said Nick Nuciforo, UTA partner and head of comedy touring.
Welborn is the latest agent to join UTA’s comedy touring practice. Nuciforo joined UTA in March 2015 from CAA to lead UTA’s existing comedy touring team and was joined by other former CAA colleagues in April 2015 to represent touring talent.
