NATPE to Seek New Chief Next Year After Rod Perth Steps Down

NATPE has set a one-year contract extension with president-CEO Rod Perth, who will step down next year after helping find his successor.

Perth, a TV biz vet, has been at the helm of the nonprofit org since 2012. He’s credited with bringing new activity to the org’s annual conference, which has suffered declining attendance amid broader changes in the industry. Perth has also expanded the org’s reach overseas with an annual gathering in Prague.

“The very positive responses to our market/conferences in Miami and other year-round activities are a testimonial to (Perth’s) efforts and that of our entire NATPE staff. We will be conducting a search for a new executive who will work closely with Rod, culminating in the hand off next February following our 2016 market and conference,” said NATPE chairman Jordan Levin.

Perth will join NATPE’s board of directors next year, which Levin said would keep him in a leadership position for another three years. Perth cited family reasons for his decision to transition out of day-to-day management.

“It’s been a whirlwind three years, and I am proud that, along with the teamwork of this great staff and an energized board, we have successfully repositioned NATPE with a strategy that is broad and inclusive, and one that reflects the dynamic changes that are having a profound impact on our business. Given my family priorities, I recently began discussing with the board how I could make an orderly transition from day-to-day duties,” Perth said.
