Hollywood Bomb Threat Causes False Alarm Near Site of Oscars

Hollywood Oscars Bomb Threat

A bomb scare, which later turned out to be false, shut down the busy intersection of Hollywood & Highland for more than two hours on Thursday. The incident took place just steps away from the Dolby Theater, home to Sunday’s Academy Awards.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told Variety that police stopped someone for reckless driving. The driver admitted to authorities that he may have had explosives in the trunk of his vehicle. Officials later said no explosives were found.

The incident occurred specifically at the intersection of Yucca and Highland.

Hollywood & Highland, currently closed while investigations continue, is expected to reopen shortly. The Academy Awards have been setting up for the upcoming show throughout the week, with many journalists picking up their Oscar credentials at the site on Thursday.

Hollywood is a becoming a dangerous place nowadays dead bodies, houses been set on fire. Dangerous place to be all around the film industry.

    • J.K. says:

Wrong. It is not becoming a dangerous place nowadays. If you are at all informed, dead bodies, houses set on fire, false bomb threats, shoot outs, muggings, carjackings, robberies, et al., are common news items these days in any town or city across this nation both in highly populated areas and not highly populated areas. Hollywood is probably safer than most places as law enforcement is highly attuned to protecting its entertainment industry making it no more dangerous than any other place with an abundance of public and/or famous people.

      • Diana says:

You are right JK. It is probably safer for the reasons you mentioned but there are scandals that are not allowed to make the news and so the safety of the place depends.
