Today is a magical day for all kids and kids at heart as Disneyland turns 60. To celebrate the birthday of the “the Happiest Place on Earth,” Disneyland Resort’s official Twitter page shared rare photos, gifs and videos from the theme park, in addition to “live-tweeting” events from the opening day as though they were happening today.

The Southern California landmark forever changed the world of amusement parks.

Here are our top 10 gifs from the theme park’s opening day:

T. Ravenscroft, best known as the voice of Tony the Tiger, opens the gates to Fantasyland. He worked for Disney for more than 50 years, singing and voicing roles in almost two dozen Disney movies, including a mouse in “Cinderella” (1950) and a dog in “Lady & the Tramp” (1955).

“Here age relives fond memories of the past and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future,” Walt Disney says on opening day. “Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America.”

Traffic was clearly less congested in 1955.

Horse-drawn streetcars and fire wagons were two big draws.

The Jungle River Ride was Adventureland’s opening day attraction.

    Wish it was as magical as it used to be. Too many thrill rides and not enough imagination. Disney’s haunted mansion isn’t built on speed but still is the best of the bunch
