Italy offers a 25% film tax credit with no per-project cap, which it recently extended to include fiction television. The TV program mirrors the film guidelines and has no sunset. To support the changes, the cap has been raised from $5.4 million to $10.7 million. Credits are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Applicants are production companies, not projects. Regional Italian authorities have set up local film offices for scouting, shooting permits, travel and lodging, and the country, home to Cinecitta and other studios, has a rich filmmaking tradition.
