More than just “Make Believe”: Fox Broadcasting Company has given a put-pilot order to “Psych” creator Steve Franks’ 20th TV pitch based on Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo.

DeTour” is being billed as a “coming-of-age story, slightly out of sequence.” The single-camera project follows a 30-something rock star who, similar to Cuomo’s sabbatical at Harvard eight years ago, walks away from the spotlight at the height of his fame in an effort to capture the normal life he passed over to become a music success story. The series would embellish Cuomo’s journey with a fictional character.

Franks will executive produce “DeTour” with Tagline Television’s Chris Henze and Willie Mercer.

To date, Weezer has sold close to 20 million records. Weezer will release its next studio album “Everything Will Be Alright in the End” on Oct. 7. Major tour dates and music festivals will follow.
