WATCH: ‘Today’ Team Says Goodbye to 2014 with Musical Segment

Today the Musical

The team at NBC’s “Today” is sending 2014 off with a bang in the form of a 14-minute musical segment with original compositions by the show’s own Kathie Lee Gifford.

“Today: The Musical” features the hosts and production crew of “Today,” plus Gifford’s former daytime TV co-host Regis Philbin, offering an irreverent look behind the scenes of the show. Sample lyrics: “We rise and shine / And we opine / And we drink wine.”

Highlights of the vid include Matt Lauer appearing in his boxers while waiting for his pants to be ironed, and the breakout star power of smooth-voiced stagehand Sal Cacciato.

Gifford, who wrote the piece with orchestrations by David Wilde, said that the musical came together very quickly, with the cast rehearsing and filming over just three days.

Lord have Mercy! Someone should gave saved us from this tripe. They’re trying to be like GMA, but, they don’t have the same “glue” that GMA dies. Could have saved us from this musical mess and Lauers old man legs!
