‘Walking Dead’ Book Series to Expand With Four New Novels

Walking Dead Comic

Following the mega success of their first four “Walking Dead” novels, “Walking Dead” show creator Robert Kirkman and writer Jay Bonansinga are collaborating again on another four-part book series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the first novel, “The Walking Dead: Descent,” will focus on recurring comic book character Lilly Caul as she returns to the doomed town after the Governor’s assault on the prison.

“There is quite a bit of unexplored territory left in the “Walking Dead” universe and I think people are going to love what Jay brings to this world in this medium,” Kirkman told EW.

The first book of the expanded post-apocalyptic horror series will be released on Oct. 14.

Didn’t I read somewhere that AMC was developing a new show set in The Walking Dead universe? I wonder if these new stories will have anything to do with the show.

Naw I don’t think so, the character Lilly caul is the one that, in the comics, *Multiple spoiler alerts from this point forward* kills the governor during the prison assault after killing Lori and Baby Judith. Afterwards, her and other people from Woodbury enter the prison as they run out of bullets, leaving their fate unknown. The walking dead spinoff, from what I know, isn’t going to be based inside Georgia. Soo it seems highly unlikely that these novels ( or at least the first one) will relate to the spinoff. As for the current show, they remade Lilly caul into Lilly chambler, Tara’s sister. And Tara already mentioned how she saw her sister die in episode 4×10, so it probably won’t relate too much with the current show either. My guess is that it will be strictly canon to the comics.
