History has cast some new additions for season three of its hit scripted series “Vikings.”

Lothaire Bluteau (“The Tudors”), Kevin Durand (“The Strain”) and Morgane Polanski (“The Ghost”) will join the rest of the cast, as well as previously announced Ben Robson, who will play Kalf, Lagertha’s (Katheryn Winnick) trusted second in command.

Bluteau is set to play Emperor Charles of France, with Durand as The Wanderer, a mysterious man who is not what he seems. Polanski will play Princess Gisla, the elegant, self-possessed daughter of Emperor Charles and his most trusted advisor.

Created by Michael Hirst, “Vikings” centers on Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), a warrior who longs to find and conquer new lands.

Season three is set to premiere in 2015.

Absolutely awesome series. But you’ve misinterpreted Ragnar’s motivation. In Season 1 it was about finding and conquering lands. In Season 2 it is more about taking care of his family and people. Kevin Durad is an excellent actor, he was great in Wolverine and Lost, his physicality will and much to the show. I can only imagine the sheer brutality of combat with him and Rollo pitted against one another, or together. It’ll be interesting.

  7. Anne Chen says:

Sounds interesting and as we’ve seen it doesn’t have to follow “history” so Michael Hirst can add his special touch to the episodes. Now we know who’s coming please tell me that Princess Aslaug is leaving.

Season 3 not til 2015???? Sad day:(((

  9. Rosemary O'Leary says:

If you want to find out what happens in series 3 just read the book – Ragnar’s saga written in medieval Iceland – not by the creator of the series.

  10. Having read the Ragnars saga Loðbrókar (“The Tale of Ragnarr Loðbrók”) in the Völsunga saga, I have been spoilered as to the overall plot points as this loosely follows the saga. That being said, the particular details and the character development is impressive. My only complaint is the way they buggered it up with the priests in the temple at Uppsala, making them look more like Khemetic priests from Egypt than Scandinavian goðar. Other than that, it’s an excellent series and I’m glad they’re up for a third season
