‘Veronica Mars’ Gets Web Series Spinoff

Variety Breakthrough Awards Veronica Mars

In anticipation of the “Veronica Mars” movie release, the CW announced today that the cult show will have an accompanying digital series spinoff. CW Digital is overseeing the project and series creator Rob Thomas in attached.

It’s unclear if the project will roll out before the film’s March 14 release date. As the deal has just finished, the network did not have any other details available.

The movie, which was famously made with the assistance of online backing through a Kickstarter campaign, will premiere at the South by Southwest film festival. Recently, Thomas told the crowd at Variety’s Breakthrough of the Year Awards at CES in Las Vegas that “getting the film funded was nothing more than a miracle.”

Yeah, I would much rather see Veronica return to the small screen than come to the big one. She was created with weekly adventures in mind, not every year or three.

  2. CW, how about bringing the beloved show back once Bell is done with House of Lies? That would be AMAZING!!!!

  3. You meant to write, “nothing short of a miracle,” not — “getting the film funded was nothing more than a miracle.”

I would be shocked if that was the actual quote from Thomas because I would be surprised he got it wrong. But if he got it wrong, why would you be using it in your posting?
