Mark Burnett-exec produced reality competition bows next fall

Ty Pennington, who’s best known for his work on the home improvement shows “Trading Spaces” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” is heading to the kitchen as the host of TNT’s new Mark Burnett-exec produced series, “On the Menu.”

Pennington joins chef Emeril Lagasse, who will mentor the contestants throughout the competition as the show’s “menu master.”

The cooks will work with professional chefs weekly to create new signature dishes for American food businesses, including restaurant chains and stadium concession stands. The winning dish will appear on the business’ menu, giving viewers the opportunity to try the dish the very next day.

“Two TV veterans, Emeril and Ty, who have amazing energy, are coming together for a show that is all about serving up a brand new experience for the viewer,” Burnett said in a press release. “This is going to be fun to watch: Emeril and Ty in a kitchen with real people creating a dish that’s going to be on an actual menu.”

“On the Menu,” which is being produced by One Three Media, is slated to bow next fall.
