Toronto mayor Rob Ford will take a leave of absence from office to enter a substance abuse program, according to the Associated Press.

The embattled politician, who is in the middle of a re-election campaign, was recorded swearing and ranting at a local bar Monday night.

“He was really wasted,” one witness told the Toronto Sun. “And he was acting like a real ass.”

Ford acknowledged to the paper that he has a problem and is “ready to take a break.”

The mayor, who recently starred in a reality show on the Sun News Network, was allegedly filmed smoking crack cocaine on camera last year.

I wonder if the douchebag ever really made it to the rehab centre in Chicago.. Or is he holed up in one of the family condos in Florida on the start of a month long free bender? No one knows where he is. I personally think he should just kindly disappear.. But he won’t. It’s not who he is..racist/homophobic/misogynistic/lying/cheating/drug addicted troll that he is.

  2. Celine says:

I live in downtown Toronto and absolutely agree with the previous comment. We just want Rob Ford to simply go away. We want to vote in a new Mayor in October who will take this City back up to the high
level a beautiful City like Toronto deserves. Rob Ford is an embarrassment and we’ve had enough of him. Having said that, I love to play his abused wife in an inevitable film bio.

  3. Toronto Constituent says:

And why exactly is this notice in Variety?? He’s not a showbiz figure…he is an elected official who embarrasses himself, and has been a disgrace to the City of Toronto. When some crappy made-for-cable movie is made about his life and “career”, then maybe he’ll be a legitimate news item on your pages.

  4. Celine says:

Rob Ford might have finally hit bottom. He was a tough nut to ‘crack’. It’s just a little too late.

  5. robRmh says:

Time to peel back the Onion, Ford will have the best story to tell in A.A. (maybe a pudding award)

Well, is their anybody who didn’t see this coming?
