Actor Anwan Glover, best known for his role in HBO series “The Wire,” suffered a laceration on the right side of his torso after being punched, kicked and stabbed in Washington, D.C., according to a police report obtained by the Washington Post.
According to the report, the actor was at nightclub Club Asia on Sunday morning when an unknown person punched him. Another person hit him in the back of the head after he turned to confront his attacker, causing him to slip and fall on the ground.
Glover said he was kicked multiple times and then felt a sharp pain in his right side after hearing someone say, “He has a knife.”
He was treated for the laceration on his torso at George Washington University Hospital.
While best known for his role as a tough gang member on 2002-08 drama “The Wire,” Glover also recently appeared in Oscar-winning movie “12 Years a Slave.”
Glover has been vocal off-screen about his aversion to violence, having lost a brother to a shooting in 2007, and his son was wounded in a shooting at a party in 2011.
