Stephen Colbert To Visit David Letterman on CBS’ ‘Late Show’

Stephen Colbert David Letterman

In a meeting that could be celebratory or even awkward, Stephen Colbert will meet the man whose duties he is set to assume.

Colbert will sit down with David Letterman on his “Late Show” on April 22, according to CBS, which broadcasts the show.

CBS announced last week that Colbert would succeed Letterman on “Late Show” when the latter retires from the broadcast in 2015. Letterman has hosted the program on CBS for the past 21 years.

Viewers may want to watch whether Colbert appears as the bloviating political analyst he has portrayed on Comedy Central’s “Colbert Report” for the past nine years, or whether he merely holds forth as himself. Also of interest: Will anyone pronounce the final consonant of his last name?
