Starz and the BBC have pacted to produce the eight-episode drama thriller “The Missing,” to star “Hobbit” alum James Nesbitt.
Project revolves around a man’s obsessive search for his kidnapped son. Harry and Jack Williams penned the series, which will be helmed by Tom Shankland (“Ripper Street”). Production is under way in Belgium.
Frances O’Connor and Tcheky Karyo also star.
“Missing” will air simultaneously on BBC and Starz in the fall. Series will be exec produced by Charlie Pattinson, Willow Grylls and Elaine Pyke for New Pictures, John Yorke for Company Pictures in association with the Williams’ Two Brothers Pictures and Colin Callender’s Playground banner.
Starz and BBC have collaborated on multiple projects in the past, most recently on last year’s miniseries “The White Queen.”
