Scott Bakula To Star In ‘NCIS’ New Orleans Spinoff

Scott Bakula Star 'NCIS' New Orleans

CCH Pounder also joins cast

CBS has enlisted Scott Bakula to topline its prospective “NCIS” spinoff set in New Orleans.

Bakula will play the special agent who oversees NCIS cases for the Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana region. The planted spinoff is set to air as a two-part episode of the mothership “NCIS” series this spring.

CCH Pounder, an alum of “The Shield” and other shows, has also joined the cast, playing a medical examiner.

“NCIS” star Mark Harmon and exec producer Gary Glasberg are shepherding the spinoff episodes as exec producers for CBS TV Studios.

Coming off strong reviews for his turns in the TNT dramedy “Men of a Certain Age” and the HBO telepic “Behind the Candelabra” (for which he earned an Emmy nom), Bakula has been busy of late. He has a recurring role on HBO’s new dramedy “Looking,” and he will be seen in two upcoming features: “Basmati Blues,” opposite Brie Larson and Donald Sutherland,” and “Elsa and Fred,” opposite Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer.

Bakula’s repped by ICM Partners, Anonymous Content and attorney Don Steele.

Although I am surprised there is yet to be an NCIS San Francisco with our spectacular Presidio and the America’s Cup, I so love New Orleans and I am ready to move back there if this show tapes in New Orleans and not on some stupid set. You cannot fake New Orleans or the people. This is going to be a hotbed of fascinating stories given all the cultures–the Cajuns, voodoo, the restaurants, the medical field, the musicians, the media, the krews, the Gays, the waterfront, the yachters, Black Irish (the most gorgeous creatures with Elvis black hair and blue eyes and pale skin–they throw potatoes instead of beads at the St. Patrick’s parade). The place just wreaks of mystery and magic. Thank you so much for giving we older and mature ladies a person of interest.
