HBO Orders Sarah Silverman Comedy Pilot

Sarah Silverman Pilot HBO

HBO has given a pilot order to an untitled comedy toplined by Sarah Silverman.

The single-camera laffer stars Silverman as a pathologically honest woman having a modern mid-life crisis.

Lucy Prebble, a playwright whose film credits include “Enron” the “The Effect,” penned the pilot script and is exec producing with Silverman, Ash Atalla, Amy Zvi and Dan Hine.

Silverman is coming off an Emmy win this year, for writing in a variety special, for her 2013 HBO comedy spesh “We Are Miracles.” She ranks as one of the biz’s most prominent comedians, but she’s also recently branched out into drama.

Silverman logged a guest stint in the second season of Showtime’s “Masters of Sex,” and she stars as a self-destructive wife and mother in the indie feature “I Smile Back,” set to debut at the Sundance film fest next month.

Silverman had a three-season run as the star of Comedy Central’s “The Sarah Silverman Program” from 2007-2010.

She’s repped by CAA, Thruline and Ziffren Brittenham.

How is this woman still relevant? She is so not funny in the least. Her jokes are nothing more than straight racism over and over again. And she delivers her routines in such a “screw you” attitude that you can’t help but want to smack her every time you see her. Sure she’s hot, but like I tell so many women who think certain bands are great simply because they think the singer is hot, cuteness does not equal talent.

Sarah is an awesome talent no matter the role. This might be just what the rabbi ordered to fill the void left by Curb Your Enthusiasm. Besides Sarah Silverman is hot with a scorched earth attitude. Although Larry David was able to keep a high level of creativity, I’d rather watch Sarah, I don’t even need audio, just Sarah.

  3. exhelot says:

Did they actually say ‘comedy’ in the same sentence as Sarah Silverman? I suppose that they may have gotten off much cheaper by just hiring some guttermouth street walker and would have classed it up at the same time.

Didnt she have a show on comedy central for awhile?

yes she did but when the writers strike happened in 08 she joined, they were going to shelve it til Logo subsidized half so she could produce her last season

  5. occultology says:

Sarah Silverman is an absolutely fearless entertainer — the exact opposite of SONY and Columbia Pictures. Sarah Silverman could take down North Korea’s leader with her words alone.

  6. Jeff C says:

    Hope it films in L.A.
