Ryan Seacrest Prods. has tapped reality TV vet Rabih Gholam to run its unscripted programming unit.
Gholam comes to RSP after serving as exec VP of alternative programming for 51 Minds, the Endemol-based production banner. His appointment as RSP’s exec VP of unscripted programming marks the first big executive hire for Eugene Young, who came to RSP in February as prexy.
“Rabih is a prolific producer and creator of content. He has a keen eye for projects with vast commercial appeal. His intelligence, experience and relationships are sure to energize our growing team at RSP,” Young said.
Gholam’s projects in the past few years include CBS’ “Same Name,” Fox’s “Somebody Has to Go” and ABC’s “Whodunnit.”
Before 51 Minds, Gholam was an exec producer at MTV and worked as a producer on CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and Fox’s “Talk Show with Spike Feresten.”
RSP’s TV biz was built on the success of its “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” franchise on E! But ratings for that show and its spinoffs are waning. Gholam will be tasked with revving up new prospects, working closely with RSP’s existing team of Izzie Pick Ashcroft, exec VP of current unscripted programming; Robert Norris Catto, exec veep of production; and Matt Sims, senior VP of development.
RSP’s other unscripted series include Bravo’s “Shahs of Sunset” and TLC’s “The Speegle Life.”
