Publicis Group CEO Maurice Levy Tapped To Keynote At MipTV

PARIS– Maurice Levy, the CEO of Paris-based advertising and communications conglom Publicis Groupe, is set to deliver a keynote at MipTV, the international TV showcase.

Maurice Levy will discuss how TV and advertising are increasingly facing challenges – from content creation to monetization — during his keynote address entitled “The Future of Content Is Digital.”

“Publicis Groupe has been transformed into a global powerhouse of top creative advertising and marketing agencies, and is today a pioneer in digital and online communications,” stated Reed Midem, which organizes MipTV.

In January, Levy was tapped to chair the International Board of Governors (IBoG) of the Peres Center for Peace, and the  MEI (Media, Entertainment and Information) Board, a division of the World Economic Forum.

Levy’s keynote will be one of the highlights of MipTV’s first Mip Digital Fronts, a two-day sidebar featuring showcases by  YouTube and Maker Studios execs.

“More than ever, it’s crucial for MipTV to connect broadcasters with the next generation of content creators and talent that are breaking through in the OTT landscape,” said Laurine Garaude, topper of Reed Midem’s TV division. “We’ll be covering all genres of original digital content: scripted, unscripted series, shorts, formats, games, animation and content targeting children and young adults.”

Added Garaude, “The recent acquisition of Studio Bagel (French multi-channel network on YouTube) by Canal Plus illustrates the willingness of European TV players to expand their digital presence, develop innovative web formats and source new talent.”

As part of Mip Digital Fronts, various creators will be on hand to present their studios and shows. Participants include What’s Trending (Shira Lazar and Damon Berger), Fox Digital Studio, Vuguru, Smokebomb, Pemberley Digital, Hoodlum, Jimmy Lee and SXM Productions.

Brands and agencies will also be repped at the event, including Orangina-Schweppes, Jaguar Land Rover and Havas Media.

MipTV’s brand of the year nod will be awarded to U.S. restaurant chain Chipotle Mexican Grill for its original web series “Farmed and Dangerous,” produced with Studio Piro.

MipTV will take place April 7-10 in Cannes.
