James Roday has been tapped to play the male lead in “Good Session,” the CBS comedy pilot from Matt Miller and John Hamburg.

The half-hour single-camera project is produced by Warner Bros. Television and centers on a happy couple who embark on the funny, awkward, yet ultimately rewarding road of couples counseling when they disagree about the right time to start a family.

Roday, who co-starred on USA’s “Psych,” will play the husband, a dedicated middle-school guidance counselor. Who will play the part of the wife, described as a jet-setting executive, has not been announced. The cast also includes “Mad Men’s” Rich Sommer.

The show is exec produced and penned by Miller (“Chuck,” “666 Park Avenue”) and Hamburg (“Zoolander,” “Meet the Parents”). Hamburg will also direct the pilot.

Roday is repped by CAA and Gotham/Principal.
