Michael Jace, a veteran actor who appeared in the FX cop drama “The Shield,” has been charged with murder following the shooting death of his wife in the Hyde Park area of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Jace, 41, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in downtown Los Angeles on a single count of murder with a gun allegation. Prosecutors will ask that his bail be set at $2 million.

Authorities said the actor, who portrayed a police officer on “The Shield,” called 911 on Monday shortly after 8:30 p.m. His wife, April Jace, was found inside the couple’s home along with the couple’s two young sons, who were unharmed, according to authorities.

Jace was booked early Tuesday morning on suspicion of murdering his wife, a financial-aid counselor at Biola University.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the case. If convicted, Jace faces a sentence of 50 years to life.

Update: Bail was set at $2 million while the arraignment was continued until June.
