President Obama to Visit ‘The Colbert Report’ on Dec. 8

Stephen Colbert

Nation, it may hurt to be reminded that “The Colbert Report” is winding down ahead of Stephen Colbert’s transition to “The Late Show” on CBS, but before the “truthiest” host in the land signs off on Dec. 18, he still has a few special guests up his sleeve.

On Thursday night’s episode, Colbert announced that he’ll be interviewing President Barack Obama on Dec. 8 in Washington, as part of a special visit to the capital that he’s calling “Stephen Colbert Presents: Mr. Colbert Goes to Washington, D.C. Ya Later, Legislator: Partisan is Such Sweet Sorrow: A Colbert Victory Lap ‘014.”

Colbert promised it would be “a star-studded evening” (because he’s a star and a stud) and joked that while he had attempted to book ’90s band The Presidents of the United States of America, there was a slight mix-up and he ended up getting the actual President of the United States instead.

On Dec. 9, his guest will be “Into the Woods” star James Corden (who will follow Colbert’s “Late Show” as the new host of “The Late Late Show” from March 9), and on Dec. 10, Colbert will interview Sarah Koenig, host and executive producer of the hit podcast “Serial.”
