Pivot Promotes Belisa Balaban Head Original

Participant Media’s cabler Pivot has upped Belisa Balaban to exec veep overseeing original programming.

Prior to the promotion, Balaban was responsible for Pivot’s alternative programming, including hits such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s “HitRECord” and the award-winning documentary “Teach.” Balaban is based at Participant’s Los Angeles offices and reports to Pivot president Evan Shapiro.

Balaban’s “vision, spirit and proven programming track record over the past year speaks for itself and we feel privileged to have her leading the charge to create the kind of content that puts storytelling first and deepens the conversation our viewers are having about the world today,” Shapiro said.

As co-founder of production banner Snackaholic, Balaban also exec produced pilots and series including “Tabloid Wars” for Bravo and “Bollywood Hero,” a three-hour musical comedy for IFC. Earlier in her career she held development post at the WB Network and at Comedy Central.
