Deal calls for wide range of projects with producer, including YouTube channel
Musician Pitbull has inked a wide-ranging development pact with Endemol North America.
Details of the deal were sketchy, but the singer took to the stage Monday night at Endemol’s party at the NATPE convention in Miami Beach to announce the partnership.
It’s expected that Pitbull will work with Endemol on a host of projects, including TV development, digital offshoots and possibly a YouTube channel through the newly launched Endemol Beyond digital unit.
Pitball , aka Armando Perez, is a rapper and songwriter who has gained a large following in the U.S. and other markets in recent years. Endemol is looking to beef up its creative roster as it seeks out cross-platform opportunities with notable stars and brand-name talent.
“The U.S. Hispanic consumer and gigantic global stars like Pitbull have been the underpinning for the major Latin music and cultural influences in the U.S. and around the world,” said Endemol North America co-CEO Cris Abrego. Co-CEO Charlie Corwin added: “Combining Pitbull’s already massive global presence with our Endemol Beyond digital dream team and our creative scripted and unscripted teams in a first of its kind deal will give us an opportunity to create ground-breaking content across all media.”
Pitbull manager manager Charles Chavez, of Latium Entertainment, will serve as exec producer on all projects produced through the deal.
