Piers Morgan’s Show is Ending, CNN Confirms

Piers Morgan's Show is Ending, CNN

Piers Morgan has fought a ratings battle during his three-year run as host of CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live,” and now the prime-time show is coming to an end, CNN has confirmed.

“CNN confirms that ‘Piers Morgan Live’ is ending. The date of the final program is still to be determined,” the net said in a statement.

Morgan first broke the news to New York Times columnist David Carr and told him that it’s been a struggle being a Brit debating controversial American topics, especially his strong gun stance. Morgan said the show will probably end in March.

“It’s been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings,” Morgan admitted.

The host has been on CNN since January 2011. He took over for Larry King at the 9 p.m. hour.

    BOO HOO.
I could never figure out why he was put in that position. Larry King, obviously liberal leftist, was polite and respectful to everyone. It didn’t matter if he agreed with them or not. The talk and learning about that person was the point of the show. I seldom missed a program. I never watched this guy unless the guest was someone I liked.
Hope CNN does a better job on the next ‘Fake Larry King’ show.

  2. Good. I have found him to be a ‘mush mouth’ – not because of his accent but his rate of speech. And he seldom gives shape to a discussion – there may be a start, and part of a middle, but never a sensible end. Delighted to know he won’t be a moderator. That is not his gift.

  3. Carol Blakey says:

I hate to see Piers Morgan go, especially because it effectively ends the tradition of the show started by Larry King. Solution: PUT IN JAY LENO!!!!!!!!

  4. Variety_man says:

    Noooooo…….. don’t let him stop.
It took us long enough to get rid of him. The UK does not want him back.

  5. ldunnjr01 says:

Was he still on the air?

  6. sharihodges says:

Piers Morgan went to a trade school that offers a certificate in TV presentation and hair styling. Next time, CNN, hire somebody with a college degree at least. Please.

  7. Rudy Haugeneder says:

If CNN wants good ratings it would be wise to try and hire Gov. Jesse Ventura to replace Morgan. Americans love and understand Venture and would watch his daily show more than any other offered by any cable network including Fox and MSNBC.

  8. Nanny Mo says:

Good riddance. Another self-righteous, pompous foreigner trying to tell me how to live. You will not be missed.

    • Smooth says:

Just think, he’s still rich and famous, and you’re still a “nobody” commenting on the internet. He still wins, and you still lose. May I suggest getting a life, it will be more to YOUR benefit. A change of attitude couldn’t hurt you either. Sheesh!

    Good show. Stupid move.

    • Smooth says:

Dick, it’s because of jealous patriotic losers like the ones on this blog. Funny thing is their lives will still be miserable, but they’ll find someone else to hate on in their quest to feel good about their own failure to achieve.

pissed away the larry king inheritance…smh

  13. jenna1087 says:

I will never forget when Piers interviewed SCJ Scalia. Piers lack of knowledge and sensitivity to the constitution and the US was cringeworthy. I still don’t know how CNN allowed it to be aired.

  14. Matthew B says:

Yeah. If anyone deserves Rio be cancelled for being a bore it’s Piers. Who knows what mistake Cnn might make next but anyone would be better. Someone who is going to excite us might be nice.

  15. Pierce Morghan says:

That’s why Obama was elected TWICE and the tea party was absolutely bitch-smacked in the last election, right? Because everyone hates him and Obamacare. Get out of your bubble every once in a while and get your news from some other sources and you might learn something, fattie.

  16. Lizart says:

His intelligent, no-nonsense views on the ridiculously sorry state of gun madness in America will be sorely missed by this viewer.

He’s a winner so he’ll go be a winner elsewhere. All the best, PM.

  17. ThomT says:

It had nothing to do with “being a Brit”. It had to do with attitude, ego and arrogance. The only thing surprising is that he lasted three years.

    • Pierce Morghan says:

A non-American accent doesn’t equal “arrogance.” Piers Morgan is about the farthest thing from arrogant as a person can be.

You probably think someone taking an intelligent, informed stance against firearms equals arrogance, in which case you’re a mouth breathing puppet of the NRA and the military industrial complex.

  18. Wonderful, but March is not soon enough!

Hopefully he retreats back to Britain with his tail between his legs, and the Brits take him back. :-)

  19. GKN says:

That’s a shame. Can’t believe the xenophobia this man’s had to deal with, in this day and age. The internet really brings them all back out of the woodwork. It’s eye-opening. But a shame TV encourages and panders to it, which will only make it worse and worse.
