‘Parks and Recreation’ to End After Seventh Season

It’s almost time to say goodbye to Pawnee.

While announcing their 2014-2015 lineup on Sunday, NBC included that “Parks and Recreation’s” upcoming seventh season will be its last. The Amy Poehler-starring comedy has been on the Peacock since 2009.

“We have several of our strongest comedies by some of our best auspices being held for midseason, including the final season of ‘Parks and Recreation,’” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in the release.

NBC also confirmed that “Parenthood’s” upcoming sixth season will be its last.

The net has not released information about how many episodes the final season will be, but the last two seasons have both have 22 episodes.

Though “Parks and Recreation” has gone through period of struggling in ratings, it has been critically acclaimed, especially after its first season. The show has garnered several Emmy nominations and won Poehler a Golden Globe for lead actress in a comedy.

It has also helped to push the careers of its cast, which includes Aziz Ansari, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Rob Lowe, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Adam Scott and Rhetta.

“Parks and Recreation” comes from showrunner Mike Schur, Universal Television and Greg Daniels’ Deedle Dee Productions.
