NUVOtv, an English-language Latino entertainment network, has announced some new original series ahead of its upfront presentation next week.
Two of the new series include “Los Jets” and “Sensation” (working title), and they will be produced by Jennifer Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican Productions. Lopez also serves as the net’s chief creative officer.
“Los Jets” is a documentary series with an immigration-based storyline. It features a high school soccer team of boys who defy the odds, face adversity, experience defeat and taste victory on and off the field. It will premiere July 16.
“Sensation” is a reality competition show that will search for the next “triple-threat” talent. This series will help discover a new Latino star with singing, dancing and acting abilities that could make him or her the next big thing. “Sensation” will premiere in 2015.
Broadening its relationship with talent host Mario Lopez, NUVOtv also is launching the new docuseries “Tequila King,” which features Mexican entrepreneur Eric Buccio as he launches the Casa Mexico tequila brand in the U.S.
The network also unveiled Nu America, which will be an umbrella franchise for NUVOtv that will feature series with an overarching theme that combines topical storytelling with social commentary.
