Nina Tassler has been promoted to chairman of CBS Entertainment, and reupped with the Eye through 2017. In her new post, Tassler will continue to report to CBS Corporation prez and CEO Leslie Moonves.
“Nina’s creative instincts, programming savvy and leadership skills have helped form a hit-making machine that has fueled the network’s success and benefited the company’s bottom line,” said Moonves. “She’s been a friend and colleague for 25 years, and I’ve witnessed first-hand the genuine and positive energy, as well as hands-on skills, she brings to every facet of the creative process.”
Promotion follows Tassler’s decade-long tenure as president of CBS Entertainment. Under Tassler’s leadership, the Eye has consistently ranked as the most-watched network in total viewers, and its hits launched during her stint as prez including “The Big Bang Theory,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Criminal Minds” and “Undercover Boss” continue to outperform competition in their primetime time periods.
Before serving as president, Tassler was senior veep of drama development for CBS, developing the Eye’s mega-franchises including “NCIS” and “CSI.”
Tassler’s expanded role as chairman of CBS Entertainment will give her oversight across all entertainment programming, including daytime, primetime and latenight, along with development across all genres. She also will oversee division matters in advertising and promotion, biz affairs, consumer products, diversity, scheduling, publicity and more.
Tassler has been a member of the CBS family for 17 years. She also serves on the board of directors for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation.
