NBC Renews ‘Law & Order: SVU’ for 16th Season

NBC Renews 'Law & Order: SVU'

NBC has renewed “Law & Order: SVU” for a 16th season after some behind-the-scenes wrangling with exec producer Dick Wolf.

The last surviving series from the “Law & Order” dynasty had a solid year ratings-wise, and there is renewed buzz about Emmy prospects for star Mariska Hargitay. But there were financial issues that complicated what would otherwise have been an easy renewal for a show from Universal TV.

It’s not immediately clear how the sides managed to come to terms — amid reports that Wolf was being asked to trim his episodic salary on the show — and reach the renewal deal.

Warren Leight will remain showrunner and exec producer of “SVU” with Wolf, Julie Martin, Jonathan Starch and Peter Jankowski.

I keep thinking they’re going to cancel SVU but to my delight they’ve renewed for another year. They do need to work on better story plots…hated the ones where Olivia was kidnapped and tortured. Like the new Captain. Hoping for a better season finality this year…and season opener in September!

Just one more comment- I would like to see Mariska earn the Emmy Nomination again (and win for the 2nd time). She deserves it. She is an awesome actress.

Honestly- it hasn’t been the same show since the original cast was disbanded- I love Mariska- but without the whole team- Mariska Hargitay-Christopher Melon-Richard Belzer- BD Wong- Dann Florek-& ICE-T the show hasn’t been the same. They start killing off or removing the lead actors in these shows one at a time and replacing them with others and expect the ratings to stay up.

I seldom watch the show anymore- there are just too many actors on it that I don’t know and can’t related to.

Just my opinion… for what its worth.

Is Mariska contracted for next season?
