Nat Geo Plans Live Special To Be Broadcast From Space Station

It’s National Geographic Channel — in spaaace!

The cabler has announced “Live from Space,” a global two-hour special to premiere in March. Event program from Arrow Media will broadcast live from the International Space Station and Mission Control in Houston and offer viewers a glimpse into the ISS and spectacular views of Earth and space.

Special will air on Nat Geo in 170 countries along with Channel 4 in the U.K. During the live broadcast, viewers will be able to videochat with ISS astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Koichi Wakata.

“We’re thrilled to be making this unique event for NGC Worldwide,” adds Arrow Media’s creative director, Tom Brisley. “The technological and logistical challenges of broadcasting live from space may be enormous, but there’s no bigger buzz than creating mind-blowing content that works in micro gravity, on the world’s largest spacecraft!”

“Live from Space” is exec produced by Brisley, Al Berman and Sally Dixon, along with Madeleine Carter.
