The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” is adding to its news team, tapping stand-up comedian and “Saturday Night Live” writer Michael Che as its newest correspondent.

Che was one of Variety’s 10 comics to watch in 2013 and, this year, was the first standup comedian to perform on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” He also recently taped his first stand-up special — scheduled to air on June 6 on Comedy Central — as part of the premiere block of the new season of “The Half Hour” stand-up series.

Che is the first correspondent hire since it was announced earlier this month that Stephen Colbert would be leaving his eponymous “Daily Show” sister program to replace David Letterman on “Late Show.” UCB alum Jordan Klepper joined the satirical news show in March.

Che will start his new role in June. He is repped by CAA and Dixon Talent.
