“Will & Grace” co-creator Max Mutchnick has set a solo production pact with Warner Bros. TV and is developing a comedy for HBO based on Laura Kightlinger’s book “Quick Shots of False Hope.”
Mutchnick’s Too Mutch Ink Deal with WBTV marks the first substantial development effort by Mutchnick outside of his longtime partnership with “Will & Grace” co-creator David Kohan.
The two had been based at WBTV under a deal together for more than a dozen years. The pair will still collaborate on projects that are in motion through their KoMut banner, including the TBS series “Buzzys” and a multicamera comedy in development at Fox.
Kightlinger is also a frequent collaborator with Mutchnick. She penned the book about a 1970s-era single mom on a quest to find a husband. She previously worked on “Will & Grace” as a writer and an actress.
Mutchnick and Kightlinger are co-writing the “Quick Shots” script for HBO as a single-camera vehicle.
