Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” is returning for season two just in time for the pay cabler to rev up its Emmy campaign for the period drama starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as famed sex researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson.
The love triangle at the heart of the show promises to get more complicated among Masters, Johnson and Masters’ wife Libby, played by Caitlin Fitzgerald.

Meanwhile, Showtime has fired up its Emmy campaign efforts by making “Masters of Sex” and other key programs available to voters via its Sho.com/FYC website. The offering has expanded to mobile platforms this year in an effort to grab as much viewing as possible.
Showtime has raised eyebrows this year by entering hourlong series “Shameless” in the comedy series after three years in the drama heat. The key art for the “Shameless” Emmy campaign, soon to be seen on bus sides and billboard, among other spots, acknowledges the shift in a lighthearted way.
